Case#: 14 Unsuspected Anterolisthesis at L3/4 Following L4,5,S1 Fusion Revealed by Upright MRI Changes Patient Treatment
The recumbent scan is of a patient with recurrent low back pain of five years duration following after L5-S1 fusion surgery. The recumbent scan shows loss of disc height and inflammatory end plate changes at L3/4, L4/5 and L5/S1. The Upright seated scan reveals a postoperative spinal instability consisting of an anterolisthesis at L3/4 that was not suspected from the recumbent MRI image. The anteriolisthesis visualized at L3/4 changed patient management from conservative treatment to a ligament stabilization procedure at L3/4.
